Nokia starts post-Microsoft reboot with a ‘dumb’ phone
Nokia, once a pioneer in mobile technology, had tried its hand with Microsoft to jump into the smartphone bandwagon but failed miserably. Anticipation for a new version of the phone has been at fever pitch since news of the release leaked earlier this year, according to the Guardian.
The phone is produced by new mobile firm HMD Global, which licensed the Nokia brand a year ago. “If you see this handing on the shelf at the checkout in a see-through, then you’d just buy it as an accessory”, said Arto Nummela, CEO of HMD Global, the company that has manufacturing rights to Nokia phones.
Carrying a flagship design, which the company said, Nokia 3 looks stunning, classy and we all know about company’s build quality.
The modern handset is lighter and more colorful, with options in red, yellow, blue and gray. The Nokia 3310 price is affordable as well at $50 and you will thankfully still be able to get your Snake on. Nokia is really touting it as a feature, too, which is music to my ears.
It is clearly hoping that nostalgia for the classic device will entice buyers, alongside the fact it has a battery life of 22-hours of talk time, the classic game Snake and the once ubiquitous Nokia ringtone.
– There is a 2-megapixel camera with flash on the rear. Coming back to the display, it is claimed to be extremely legible in sunlight thanks to a polarized layer on top of it. The good news is the modern Nokia 3310 won’t cost a fortune, as HMD Global announced the feature phone will be available for purchase for €49. It also comes with 16GB inbuilt storage that can be expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. The handset is based on the Nokia Series 30+ OS.
Nokia 3 has a 5-inch HD display, Gorilla Glass, with an 8MP selfie camera. Connectivity options include micro-USB (USB 2.0), Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM. Additionally, there are no confirmed reports but as per rumors Nokia 3310 might support WhatsApp. The phone is great for people who travel, and people on Social media could not contain their excitement on the launch of the classic model.
