‘None of us voted for Philippines’, Miss Universe contestant claims
Miss Philippines 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (L), is correctly named 2015 Miss Universe. After the flub was revealed on live television, rumors soon began to circulate that Harvey purposefully announced the wrong victor.
Urvashi also alleged that Miss Colombia knew that her name would be mistakenly mixed up with the winners’ name.
Miss Universe pageant has now become rather boring and the coveted event has lost its charm in the past few years but this year the pageant was on every network, thanks to a major goof-up by the show’s host, Steve Harvey.
“I had to ask my [manager] many times like, ‘Did I really win?” “It didn’t deserve to happen that way”, adding that he just kept reading the card and it said, ‘First runner-up, ‘ and I went ‘oh my goodness”.
Harvey wrote about the mistake on Twitter, saying, “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake”.
Later, he seek apology for his mistake to both Miss Columbia and Miss Philippines. “She really deserved it. But I’m very unhappy with the result and so were the other girls, I’m very sorry to say it”. “Are you going to take the crown from me now?'” Pia said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. But soon after, Colombian media and social networks lit up with reactions to the botched Miss Universe finale on Sunday night, which saw the national contestant crowned and dethroned in a matter of minutes.
Fans have been hitting the star with abuse, aimed at Sarah, with one writing: “Dear Miss Germany”.
She hesitated before walking up to center stage, where Gutierrez stood with her crown, bouquet and “Miss Universe” sash.
Mr Trump now says he thinks they should share the crown.
Back in 2013, Denise Garrido was crowned as Miss Universe Canada, but was stripped of her title the next day when it was discovered that a computer error botched the results.
Standing in the dark Miss Philippines was left flummoxed as the spot light shifted.
