North and South Korea enter Winter Olympics as one

In his message, Kim Jong Un was quoted as saying, “I am ready to meet President Moon at an early date”.
Smiling and seemingly unfazed by cameras flashing during the airport meeting, Kim Yo-jong wore a black coat, matching ankle boots and carried a black purse.
The ceremony was also attended by North Korean ceremonial leader Kim Yong Nam and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, as well as U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
North Korea state media on Friday confirmed the sacking of the country’s military chief Hwang Pyong So, after Southern reports said he had been fired for corruption.
Members of a delegation from North Korea, part of an extraordinary Olympics partnership between the two Korean rivals, watched from high in the stadium a performance called “The Land of Peace”. Park Jong-ah of South Korea and Jong Su-Hyon of North Korea shared the honor of handing the torch to Korean Olympic hero Kim, Yuna.
An inter-Korean summit would be the third of its kind, after Kim’s father and predecessor Kim Jong Il met the South’s Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun in 2000 and 2007 respectively, both of them in Pyongyang.
That summit didn’t amount to much.
Their lookalikes weren’t in a war of words.
It’s worth noting the question now is the sincerity of Pyongyang’s outreach. North Korea’s participation in the event has been viewed as a sign of thawing relations between the two Koreas.
North and South Korea made a joint entrance under a unified Korean Peninsula flag at the opening ceremony.
Washington and Tokyo are concerned that Seoul’s conciliatory stance toward Pyongyang could endanger trilateral cooperation on bolstering pressure against North Korea, and could give the country more time to develop nuclear weapons.
There was United States vice president Mike Pence’s warning that even though he was attending the opening ceremony, he wasn’t going to enjoy himself (or something like that).
“He did have a brief exchange with president Kim”, said United Nations spokesman Farhan Haq.
