North Atlantic Treaty Organisation opens training center in Georgia
Stoltenberg added that the center would ensure “NATO will be more present and more visible in Georgia”, noting that the facility would offer Georgia higher chances to join the US-led military contingent.
As for a joint training center, the secretary general reiterated that the center is not directed against any country.
Talking on the opening of a joint NATO-Georgia coaching middle, Stoltenberg stated Georgia already has “the required instruments to proceed to maneuver towards membership”.
Georgian Prime Minister, the President, the Speaker of Parliament, Defense and Foreign Affairs Ministers and other officials attended the ceremony.
With about 885 soldiers, Georgia is the second-largest contributor of troops after the United States to NATO’s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.
According to Margvelashvili, the Georgia-NATO training center will significantly increase Georgias defense capacity.
The Centre was designed to conduct pre-deployment training and certification of units assigned to NATO-led and other global operations. It will also serve as a place where servicemen can be evaluated and gain certification.
The inauguration of the joint training and evaluation centre our cooperation will grow deeper. After violating Georgian airspace, the helicopter continued moving towards occupied Akhalgori, MFA said.
Membership Action Plan (MAP) should not be an obstacle on Georgia’s path to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation accession and the Alliance should bring clarity to this issue by the time of its summit in Warsaw next year, Georgian Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili said on August 27. “We pay tribute to them”.
“Of course, the centre will be more than this building and its offices”.
“It will include training sites and ranges all across Georgia”. The Ministry demanded from the Russian Federation to comply with the fundamental principles of worldwide law, as well as with the global commitments undertaken by Russia, including under the Ceasefire Agreement of 12 August 2008, and to de-occupy the Georgian territories.
