North Carolina agrees to seven-year deal with coach Larry Fedora

The undefeated Clemson Tigers face the North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC Championship game Saturday night. If the Heels can upset Clemson later, they’ll have a strong argument for inclusion in the College Football Playoff over Ohio State.

Former Clemson linebacker Anthony Simmons was the Tigers’ honoree for the 2015 ACC Football Championship Game Legends Class and recognized on the field before the game Saturday.

Schoettmer was asked about Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson at the time, a valid inquiry considering Clemson was selected as the preseason favorite to win the league. Williams has rushed for 786 yards this season and has scored 10 touchdowns with his legs.

No. 12 Baylor’s season has gone from sweet to bitter and battered.

Johnson threw for 235 yards, bringing his season total to a MAC-record 4,700.

Run, pass and catch. But after Saturday, Clemson’s star can safely book a flight to NY for next week’s Heisman Trophy ceremony.

Fedora is 32-18 in four seasons with the Tar Heels and finished second to Clemson’s Dabo Swinney in the ACC Coach of the Year voting.

It didn’t come without some suspense.

The Tar Heels recovered the ensuing onside attempt, but were flagged for being offsides.

The most common answers are probably a 30-27 overtime win at Virginia Tech in coach Frank Beamer’s last home game or a 26-19 victory at Pittsburgh that gave them control of the ACC’s Coastal Division. Does this mean Clemson are going to wipe the floor with them after themselves beating the Gamecocks?

Now, the only suspense left is whether Clemson or No. 2 Alabama is in the top spot when the playoff pairings are revealed Sunday. “We don’t get too many second chances and I get a second chance to go to perform and have fun playing a game”. Anybody else got that?

Both teams are ranked in the Top 10 in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls.

The Tar Heels have run the ball extremely well this season, which has been critical to their 11-game winning streak.

The No. 1-ranked Tigers added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and led 35-16 before UNC answered with a score of its own late in the quarter to trim the lead to 35-23. Then the Tigers had to turn around and on one of the wettest, nastiest days of the year, with ESPN Game Day in town, they had to take down Notre Dame 24-22.
