North Carolina State 42, Syracuse 29
Syracuse finishes its season against Boston College on Saturday, November 28 at 12:30 at the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse (3-8, 1-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) never led on Saturday, as it was a wire-to-wire domination by the Wolfpack (7-4, 3-4).
ZERO: Syracuse’s defense was gashed by the Wolfpack offense, with NC State piling up more than 400 total yards on the afternoon. The line on this game was delayed while the sharps tried to make sense of Syracuse’s quarterback situation, and although the Orange haven’t made any announcements on that front, it’s looking less likely that starter Eric Dungey will be ready to go. The Orange didn’t just lose but they looked like a bunch of sour grapes while doing it. Shame, because they actually put together a few decent drives towards the end of the game, but no one will remember that now.
North Carolina State’s Mike Rose, left, Riley Nicholson, top center, and Airius Moore (58) tackle Syracuse quarterback Zack Mahoney (16) for a loss during the first half of an NCAA college football game Saturday. Syracuse really struggled on third down, converting only two of its opportunities.
NC State drove 75 yards after the opening kickoff, with fullback Jaylen Samuels scoring on a 7-yard pass from Brissett.
But that’s as close as the Orange would get.
NC State scored the game’s next three touchdowns, the last of which was a 17-yard run by Dakwa Nichols. They were led by Reggie Gallaspy II, who ran the ball 13 times for 81 yards.
Somehow I don’t think that NC State really cares how unlucky, or unfortunate, or how deserving we are of winning a game.
Roseboro, from Lincolnton, had a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown. But after pulling within 13 points, Syracuse failed to recover an onside kick, sealing a victory for NC State.
SU mounted a bit of a comeback in the fourth but it was all too little too late and the Orange lost their eighth-straight game, 42-29.
