North Korea claims to have hydrogen bomb
If true, it would signal a major advance in the country’s nuclear weapons capabilities.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced to the press that the country has developed a hydrogen bomb, significantly more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped by the U.S.in WWII. However, experts have questioned the veracity of his claims.
North Korea also said in September that its main nuclear complex was operating and it was working to improve the “quality and quantity” of weapons which it could use against the United States at “any time”. “I think it seems to be developing it”, said Lee Chun-geun, a research fellow at Seoul-based Science and Technology Policy Institute.
Satellite images suggest that North Korea might be preparing to conduct a nuclear test again, or at least be ready to test again.

Song Il Kim was arrested in Hawaii after agreeing to pay $22,000 for the equipment and packing it into boxes that he claimed were filled with used toys and towels so he could ship them to his Chinese business, charges state.
Mr Kim made the remarks as he inspected a historical military site in the capital, Pyongyang.
A hydrogen bomb can produce a more powerful blast than an atomic bomb.
The announcement follows an alleged October 7 assassination attempt on Kim Jon-Un’s life, according to various reports, however such claims coming out of North Korea have been notoriously spotty.

The atomic bomb, or A-bomb, is also part of the nuclear bomb family and is also known for its powerful and deadly impact.

But the claim has not been independently verified and has drawn scepticism from experts.

China is a close ally of desperately poor and reclusive North Korea.
“We are closely monitoring and tracking any and all of North Korea’s nuclear activities”, a defense ministry added.
The Koreas remain technically at war, because the Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.
But none of the experts The Daily Beast consulted was ready to dismiss as pure fancy the idea that North Korea has expanded its nuclear power.
