North Korean Confirms Detention Of American Citizen
Back in April, Korean peninsula’s state-run newspaper claimed that President Kim Jong-un has hydrogen bombs ready to attack the USA and most of the Asia-Pacific countries. It is certain that Trump, who had accused USA allies like South Korea, Japan and Germany of taking a free ride for security, wants to use the THAAD issue to demand Seoul pay more for the upkeep of the 28,000 American troops in South Korea.
Beijing “should also make Pyongyang aware that it will react in unprecedented fashion if Pyongyang conducts another nuclear test”, it said.
Personnel at several areas at the test site appeared to be engaging in a game of volleyball, a popular sport in North Korea.
Asked about what would happen if North Korea conducts another nuclear test, Geng said this was a hypothetical question and he would not comment on it.
US President Donald Trump on Monday said he would be “honoured” to meet Kim Jong-Un in a move a United Nations diplomat described as a “carrot” dangled in front of Pyongyang if it changes course and halts its military programs.
The network of radar and communications-combined with missiles based in California and Alaska- has demonstrated only a “limited capability to defend the U.S. homeland from small numbers of simple” intercontinental ballistic missiles, the testing office said in its latest annual report.
His arrest is likely to add to tensions between North Korea and the United States.
Two other United States citizens were sentenced past year to lengthy prison terms in the North.
Kim previously taught Korean at the Yanbian University of Science and Technology in Yanji, China, not far from the North Korea border, according to the school’s Communist Party Committee secretary.
This was not the first time the USA has sent its bombers to the Korean Peninsula in recent years. Now with preemptive strike by the US on the table and U.N. Security Council deliberation along with recent ballistic missile launch by North Korea, the threat is more unsafe. Those measures aimed to cut North Korea’s annual export revenue by a quarter.
In addition to the strike group, which includes the large USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier, Washington deployed two supersonic bombers over the Korean peninsula during a joint exercise with South Korea’s air force on Monday.
Chinese state media, meanwhile, have recently unleashed regular and harsh criticisms over the North’s actions.
North Korean nuclear and missile capabilities pose the most risky security threat facing South Korea and America.
Beijing should not try to test the limits of the North’s patience, it said, warning: “China had better ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by its reckless act of chopping down the pillar of the DPRK-China relations”.
The move, coupled with Trump’s suggestion that South Korea pay $1 billion for the privilege of hosting THAAD (a suggestion that administration officials quickly played down), has stirred consternation across the political spectrum in South Korea.
Tensions between Pyongyang and Washington have continued to rise in recent weeks, driven in part by the hawkish stance taken by new US President Donald Trump. “Under the right circumstances I would meet with him”. This has sparked widespread criticism that the U.S.is trying to make it hard, if not impossible, for Moon to reverse it.
Trump’s zigzagging on Kim Jong-un is also cause for concern.
The White House promptly told the press that conditions were not right yet.
