North Korean Leader’s Half Brother Died After “Very Painful” 20 Minutes
Malaysian police have implicated seven North Koreans in the case, including four who left the country on the day of Kim’s death.
VX, which killed Kim Jong Nam within 20 minutes, has an oily consistency that is soluble in cold water.
Mr Gooi, who was only appointed on Wednesday, said he was able to determine from his brief interaction with Siti Aisyah that she understood the charge against her and that she faces the death sentence if convicted.
The suspects – one Vietnamese and the other Indonesian – were charged with following through on the intent to murder a North Korean identified as Kim Chol, according to charge sheets read in a court near Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
Mr Zahid said the rules requiring all North Koreans to secure visas to enter Malaysia would be effective from 6 March, the Bernama state news agency reports.
North Korea has not confirmed that the person killed on 13 February at Kuala Lumpur airport was Kim Jong-nam, the half brother of leader Kim Jong-un, saying only he was a North Korean travelling on a diplomatic passport.
He said information from the Health Ministry has suggested that Jong-Nam suffered from heart disease. Police arrested Huong and Aisyah a few days after the attack at the airport, and authorities are preparing to charge them with murder.
Malaysia is also believed to be considering expelling North Korea’s ambassador and has already recalled its own ambassador in Pyongyang.
Cops have also arrested a Malaysian and a North Korean.
However, all of this was disputed by Ri Tong Il, a spokesman for the North Korean delegation that arrived in Malaysia this week.
Both women have claimed that they thought they were participating in a prank when they robbed the deadly VX nerve agent on the face of Kim as he was walking at the airport.
Two others, Siti Aisyah, 25, an Indonesian national, and Doan Thi Huong, 28, a Vietnamese citizen, were charged at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court yesterday for Jong-nam’s murder.
Mr Kim had advocated reform in the nation, but had kept a largely low profile for years.
The North has angrily denied involvement and accused Malaysia for colluding with South Korea to frame it, while only referring to the victim by a pseudonym, without clarifying his relationship with Kim Jong-un.
“What I need to say is that the situation at present on the Korean peninsula is complex and sensitive”, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said, when asked whether North Korea should be suspended from the UN.
Jong-chol, described as an expert in chemistry, was supposedly working at the IT department of Tombo Enterprise Sdn Bhd, a company producing anti-cancer supplements in Cheras.
