North Korean satellite is in orbit, says South

He said the Pentagon will, in light of this, begin “formal consultations” with South Korea over improvements to their own missile defense systems. The North Korean boat withdrew about 20 minutes later, the ministry said.
At its plenary session on Tuesday afternoon, the House of Representatives unanimously adopted a resolution to protest North Korea’s latest launch of a long-range ballistic missile.
The U.N. Security Council held an emergency meeting Sunday in response to the launch, saying after that it would “expeditiously” adopt a new resolution in response to what it called “dangerous and serious violations”.
According to sources, South Korea is already in discussion with the USA for the deployment of a missile defence system in the region.
Cook stressed that the negotiations underscore the “ironclad” commitment of the United States to defend South Korea.
Critics of the project allege that North Korea is using the mission to test a prohibited long-range missile that has the ability to target the US. Hyon Hak-bong to “make clear in the strongest terms the U.K.’s condemnation of the launch this weekend”.
Previously, the United Nations has made threats they would “further significant measures” if North Korea were to ever again launch a missile.
North Korea successfully launched a satellite into space, its state-run TV said on Monday, an action immediately condemned by the United States as “destabilizing and provocative”.
North Korea’s other main ally, Russia, too called for “a reasonable resolution” that would not lead to economic collapse in North Korea, or increased tensions.
One diplomat told Reuters that Washington was hoping to tighten worldwide restrictions on North Korea’s banking system, while Beijing was reluctant to support that step for fear of worsening conditions in its impoverished neighbor.
