Northeast gets snow, ice during its 1st winter storm
Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Cook County from 6 a.m.to 1 p.m.
Periods of sleet, freezing rain, and snow will occur across the region today, with light snow across the entire region tonight before the storm exits the area Tuesday morning.
Accumulations of one to two inches were expected in the Hudson Valley and Catskills, according to the National Weather Service.
Sleet involves precipitation that begins as snow, falls through a warmer area of the atmosphere and then re-freezes before hitting the ground.
StormCenter 2 is continuing to closely track the winter storm which could have a significant impact on travel conditions Monday evening through Tuesday morning.

The busy corridor from New York City to Washington, D.C., could expect sleet and rain through midday Tuesday, the NWS said.
Tuesday night will be in the low 40s, followed by a high of 50 on Wednesday and a low of 40, according to the National Weather Service.
