Northeast snow storm halting flights across the county
The bulk of Friday’s cancellations were in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.
American Eagle canceled all Saturday flights from John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports.

American was joined by Southwest, Lufthansa, Air Candada, Via Air and Jet Blue in canceling all flights to and from the airport.
Flight cancellations also hit Atlanta’s Hartfield-Jackson airport, though not as hard: 155 flights were reported canceled, there. American Airlines, for instance, relaxed its change fee policy for travel to and from several cities, including Baltimore; Charleston, S.C.; Lynchburg, Va., and Washington.
Numerous flights that were not canceled today are experiencing delays.
The snowstorm will impact as many as 50 million people on the East Coast.
Almost 1,700 flights in and out of the USA were delayed Friday as of 2:30 p.m., FlightAware said.
British Airways has cancelled all flights into Washington, Philadelphia and Baltimore on Saturday January 23.
The winter weather is crippling travel out of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
DC area airports will have reduced operations Friday, and flights are cancelled for Saturday.
Another passenger headed to the East Coast told Tran that he’s more nervous than usual to fly because of the massive storm. Another 3,600 flights were canceled for Saturday. Some trains operating through Pennsylvania, and through the Southeast, also have been canceled.
Virgin Atlantic has strongly recommended passengers rebook their flights as they warn of disruption and potential cancellations to many U.S. services.
