Northwestern reveals 1995 throwback uniforms for homecoming against Iowa
Going into a huge showdown against Big Ten West contender Northwestern, the Hawkeyes will have to overcome a lengthy injury report. But as the 17th-ranked Hawkeyes get ready for a visit to 20th-ranked Northwestern on Saturday, Iowa is far from healthy and will be without four starters. Iowa star defensive end Drew Ott appears out for the season with a knee injury. It gets even worse, as wide receiver Tevaun Smith and running back LeShun Daniels are out again for the second straight game.
Most teams are banged up at this point of the season – and Iowa won’t make excuses. It’s a big void, said Ferentz.
A war of words engulfed players of both teams, from Northwestern senior captain Rob Johnson saying, “I want to hurt Iowa” to future Iowa All-American Tim Dwight responding, “They’re playing good football, but you have to respect a team that’s beaten you the last 21 years”.
“We don’t worry about that”.
“We’re confident in whoever goes in and plays because they’ve all shown the capability of getting the job done”, running back Jordan Canzeri said.
Northwestern averages 51.67 rushing attempts per game and sophomore RB Justin Jackson leads the nation with 150 rushes. Kickoff is at 11:00 AM in Evanston, Illinois.
CJ Beathard: “Right now I’m positive I’ll play”.
