Norwich to miss out on former Arsenal striker
Jackett will be hoping that the Midlands club can keep hold of the 22-year-old and it is likely that only a big money deal will convince Wolves to release the striker from his three year contract.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a bid from Premier League side Norwich City for former MK Dons forward Benik Afobe.
It was Rangers who took the all-important lead with 18 minutes with the impressive Phillips letting rip from 20 yards with Martinez only able to parry his shot into the net.
The west London side were fortunate not to fall further behind four minutes after the interval, with Green denying Afobe a second of the night with a superb point-blank save.
It was all slick Wolves deserved but while they remained in control they failed to force a game-clinching third, allowing Rangers to hit back.
If Austin’s goals last season were the gin in QPR’s drink, then Phillips’ service was the tonic.
Benik Afobe – the subject of intense transfer speculation linking him with Norwich earlier in the day – predictably got on the scoresheet to give Wolves an early lead.
Wolves sat off the winger 25 yards out and, while Martinez got a hand to his low effort, it rolled over the line.
“It’s not a situation where we’re looking to move players in or out”.
“I’m disappointed with the two goals we conceded – and that’s something we need to address – but the final result is all-important and the lads deserve a lot of praise”.
“I am very pleased with the respect Matt and Charlie have shown the club, they have been very professional in the way they have conducted themselves”, said Ramsey.
