Not a joke! Petr Cech returns to Chelsea
Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink revealed how a plan to sabotage Petr Cech’s gloves was foiled by the Arsenal stopper.
Cech, who spent a decade at Chelsea before completing a move to Arsenal in the summer, was expecting a new pair of gloves ahead of the match between the two London club on Sunday.
Asked if the Belgian will be in condition to start, Hiddink replied: “We have to be careful because he has fallen into some injuries recently”.
Hiddink said at his press conference today that Hazard had trained fully this week and was fit to start at the Emirates.
Hazard has been sidelined since sustaining a groin injury during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace earlier this month, while Costa limped from the field 10 minutes from the end of Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge with a bruised tibia.
Arsenal lead Chelsea by a huge 19 points, with the Blues just four points above the relegation zone.
“I know that I can do other things and I will probably be able to do different things”, he said. But I can not guarantee it. We’re not dealing with machines, but human beings. We see him weekly. I’m not a person who denies the facts. “We are not panicking, though, and looking too far forward”.
We had a result in the FA Cup but we want full results all the way through. “It is hard in a very strong league this year to have continuously the winning mood”.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will start in between the posts for Chelsea as he is undoubtedly the best the Blues have and will be hoping to at least keep a clean sheet against Arsenal.
“He’s become one of the key members of the side and squad”.
“I wanted to get back playing as this is what I enjoy the most and it was a challenge to prove to everyone that I don’t need a whole year”.
