Notley talks climate change
The meeting attended by Australia and 52 other countries was convened ahead of the crucial 21st Conference of the Parties in Paris.
Turnbull interjected that Trudeau hasn’t needed any help, calling him “very modest”.
Notley says the steps Trudeau has already taken will help Canada in Paris and beyond. The atmosphere doesn’t care where carbon is emitted.
“At the same time, it is equally clear that least-developed countries and Small Island Developing States are bearing a disproportionate burden from the impacts of climate change”, the statement said.
“Britain is firmly committed to helping these countries deal with the effects of climate change and that’s why we’re announcing new support today to help protect them from the risks of climate change and to make the most of their natural maritime advantages which are so vital to their economies”, he said.
Under the previous government, Canada’s role in addressing climate change “has been quite dismal”, said Corrodus.
“That’s the balance that President Hollande is looking for and that’s certainly what we encourage”. Countries are hoping they can limit the temperature increase to around 1.5 degrees.
This year’s summit, which ends Sunday, has included talks on combating climate change, violent extremism and corruption.
Couillard said he congratulated French Prime Minister Manuel Valls on the city’s commitment to hosting the massive conference, saying it was the “best response” to the atrocity. Their goal will be to set the framework for national targets to reduce emissions.
The Paris climate summit with world leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, gets underway on Monday.
The statement will be read out at the France UN summit next week by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, as the Commonwealth’s chair-in-office.

As for Trudeau, he will now be coming into the Paris negotiations on a wave of positive momentum, both domestically and internationally, but will still be put to task over other major issues that Canada is still considered weak on.

It specifically recalls Malta’s initiative in 1988 that resulted in the United Nations General Assembly recognizing that “climate change is a common concern of mankind, since climate is an essential condition which sustains life on earth”.
“It’s a duty for mankind to be able to, in the days to come, reach an agreement: a binding agreement, a universal agreement, one that is ambitious”, Hollande said.
