Notre Dame: CJ Prosise Doubtful Against Stanford
Russell has two interceptions this season.
At 10-1 Notre Dame heads to Stanford for the regular season finale next Saturday at 7:30pm EST in Palo Alto.
Irish sophomore QB DeShone Kizer finished the game with yards and two touchdowns, but threw three interceptions.
Kelly said it’ll be “very doable” to get Prosise back for Notre Dame’s bowl/playoff game, which’ll likely take place either New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. “There’s only so many times you can do that”.
“We’re excited about the win obviously”, said Kelly, perhaps showing off his pre-coaching background in politics.
Remember just a year ago Notre Dame had a laundry list of injuries that depleted the defensive line specifically and the Irish were not able to keep winning. But, when they were tested, they made big stops and turned the Irish over in key situations to keep it close. Now, the Irish have only one more chance to show they are among the top four teams in the nation, while other contenders will have conference championships to add to their résumés.
On a weekend that was expected to be very telling when it comes to the College Football Playoff picture, Notre Dame did exactly what it was supposed to do.
Farley earned the game ball for his efforts-his one tackle not on defense, but rather on a critical fake punt that only Farley properly diagnosed.
Notre Dame: C.J. Prosise, who sat out last week with a concussion, needs 25 yards to become the first Irish player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since Cierre Wood did it in 2011.
Kizer’s pass was picked off in the BC end zone on Notre Dame’s opening possession.
Smith was involved in both BC touchdowns. They belonged to Irish fans who remembered all too clearly the debacle the last time Notre Dame chose to roll out green jerseys against the Eagles in November.
“We feel like we need to win another game to still be considered”. BC couldn’t get anything going in the first half, finishing with 24 yards of offense.
Coach Brian Kelly said Sunday that Prosise, who has rushed for 1,029 yards, is doubtful. He reached the milestone on his 150th carry of the season – the second-fastest in school history. Kelly said he has a high ankle sprain. He’s made nine straight field goals dating back to September 12 against Virginia. They extended the drive again when Yoon’s 44-yard field goal attempt hit the right upright, but the Eagles were called for roughing the kicker.
His 35-yard field goal in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference. Chris Brown caught six passes for 104 yards and Amir Carlisle had seven catches for 97 yards.
“I’m proud of the way our team played and fought and I thought that we could see the makings of where we’re heading in the future, and I’m excited for the development of our football team”, said BC coach Steve Addazio.
