Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says he’s not curious about National Football League anymore
When Eagles coach Chip Kelly was sacked Tuesday, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly’s name inevitably popped up in the rumor mill.
The Eagles fired head coach Chip Kelly with one game left in his third season.
Kelly didn’t have close relationships with many of his players, and former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and cornerback Brandon Boykin were critical of his personality after he traded them. Some of those players, one being right tackle Lane Johnson believed that Kelly’s stubborn disposition could have been read the wrong way Others like quarterback Sam Bradford was in complete shock when he got the news about Kelly’s firing, but remained indebted to Kelly and his teaching.
“I’d say it’s really disappointing”, Belichick said.
The Philadelphia Eagles have chose to part ways with head coach Chip Kelly after three seasons, confirming the rumors that had been swirling around the National Football League for weeks.
“I’d also say that the coaches I know down there in Tennessee, I have a huge amount of respect for them as well”, Hasselbeck said. Belichick has also organized practices with Kelly’s team in the preseason.
Belichick’s remarks came when he was asked how much he follows coaching movement at this time of year. “He does a great job and he’s done a great job with that team”, Belichick said, per ESPN. “I haven’t really looked into it too much for the reasons why, but it’s kind of a once a Duck, always a Duck kind of thing”, Johnstone said. Taking his place in an interim basis is offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who will be manning the sidelines for Philadelphia’s regular season finale against the New York Giants.
Lurie said he cut Kelly loose a week before the season ends to benefit the team and his former coach.
That Oregon connection may lead Kelly to his next coaching stint. “But like I said before, we as players just didn’t play well enough for him”. It got him into some trouble last month when he ripped Eagles fans while talking with a reporter. “I think in today’s world, a combination of all those factors creates the best chance to succeed”.
“That’s what I think the biggest thing was”, said Johnson. That wasn’t the best team, but that team played the best so we won.
If Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie’s decision to give Chip Kelly control of the personnel last offseason wasn’t the beginning of the coach’s downfall, it was at least a point of rapid acceleration. “Our new head coach, executive vice president of football operations and a player personnel head, they are all partners to collaborate, and that’s the structure”.
