Andy Taylor, senior research analyst at Merkle|RKG, says that at the moment it’s unclear how these app streams will be tracked and appear in analytics packages, but it will become important for businesses to understand how many of these streams occur and how many eventually lead to actual app downloads or other types of conversions.

At LTG, we misjudged the restrictions we’d face with hybrid development as we added more advanced features to our app. While hybrid worked great initially, we began hitting technological walls and QA nearly ground to a halt, which necessitated our switch back. This is not universal, though, and it’s buried in the Settings app, so it isn’t as useful as it could be.

Although Google took a big step forward with permissions in Android Marshmallow, it could stand to simplify things a little more.
