Now The Witness Is Apparently NOT Coming to Xbox One
Previous announcements for the game had included PC, PlayStation 4 and iOS as platforms The Witness would be running on, but the Xbox One was never included in any announcements for the game.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Witness, it’s an ambitious-looking exploration game from Braid creator Jonathan Blow, which has apparently been in the works since 2008.
Earlier today, an Xbox One ESRB rating for The Witness was unveiled, prompting discussions that it would come to the platform after the PS4/PC exclusivity was up. Depending on how you play, the game can last for either 20 hours or 100 hours, indicating the amount of additional content available. That said, Blow has already stated he has “no plans” for a version on Microsoft’s current-gen console.
The Witness will make its debut (on PS4 and Windows PC, that is) on January 26th.
Thekla, Blow’s team, only rated the game for Xbox One so that they wouldn’t have to worry about doing it later, no matter how later that might be. It will be released later in the year on iOS and presumably on the Xbox One.
