NSYNC Say “Bye Bye Bye” As Adele Says “Hello” to Album Record
But now, it seems that Adele is set to break that record with her third album.
Billboard is reporting that Adele could potentially sell up to 2.5 million copies of 25 in its first week once the final numbers are tallied. “I’d much rather 5 million people heard my music than I earned £5 million”. Can it hit 3 million? It sold 11.23 million in the USA and is the tenth-largest selling album of the Nielsen era.
Another standout song, “River Lea”, which is an actual river near Adele’s hometown, focuses on trying to let go of the past but not being able to move past it because our individual pasts are firmly embedded in who we all are. There is no way to compare to record sales prior to the 1991 Nielsen system as albums sales were simply not tracked prior to this, in fact sales figures for singles was also not tracked. 21 is the longest running number one album by a female solo artist in the history of the United Kingdom and US Album Charts. Could it become the first album to sell a million copies in more than one week? Even though Apple initially rejected her offer because of its Apple Music priority, there is a high possibility that Spotify might be a little late to secure 25.
Bieber won the race for the hearts and dollars of young female music fans against One Direction, whose Made In The A.M. finished its first week of release with 34,866 sales. She shows she’s not a one-trick pony and can write songs that aren’t just about heartbreak. It could also surpass Taylor Swift as the biggest album of the year.
Reports are even saying that “25” could even sell up to 3 million if the surge of demand for the British singer/songwriter’s new album maintains its intensity.
There are a further nine new entries heading for this week’s top 40 album chart.
Adele “25” is the singer’s first release after selling more than 30 million copies of her last album “21” in 2011 and it is expected to sell 1 million copies in North America alone.
The monster sales mean Adele will break the first week sales record now held by boy band NSync’s 2000 album “No Strings Attached”, which opened with 2.4 million copies. A timely reminder as to who the real Queen of Music is.
