Nude man arrested after fleeing in deputy’s car
Deputies originally responded to reports of a naked man walking down State Road 245.
A body cam video showed a naked man getting in a patrol vehicle and driving away.
Deputy: “Get back over here!” “Okay”, the deputy said.
While some were watching fireworks, a Curry County Sheriff’s deputy’s had a wild Fourth of July night.
The naked man then screeched off in the police cruiser.
Deputy: “How are you poisoned?” The deputy asked. Then, Tarango made his move.
“Sir! Sir! Hey! Get out of there!” “I’m poisoned, that’s why I got the auto”.
Then, the suspect is heard over the deputy’s radio saying he was going to a hospital because he was poisoned. “He’s taken off eastbound on Llano in my unit running lights”, the deputy said on his radio.
Tarango told the officer he had been poisoned, but did not offer an explanation. Another deputy intercepted the stolen unit.
Police said Tarango drove himself to a hospital and was apprehended in the parking lot, KOB reported.
The footage of the incident, recorded by the deputy’s body cam, shows the deputy attempting to coax the man, identified as 37-year-old Jesus Tarango, off the road. It’s unclear what those injuries are.
Investigators say he was impaired, but did not go into detail.
He has since been charged with resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer, aggravated fleeing, unlawful vehicle theft and concealing his identity.
