NY Giants Welcome Jason Pierre-Paul; Louis Nix
Manning threw first-half TD passes of 8 yards to Reuben Randle and 4 yards to Shane Vereen.
It’s very encouraging, a lot better than the past two seasons when NY was 3-6 with seven games to go and heading nowhere. The victory leaves them in first place in the NFC East no matter what happens in the Sunday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, and gets their record over. They did a nice job holding (Tampa Bay to) basically field goals. But the red zone woes continued as the Bucs had to settle for another field goal to make it 17-9 going into half. Those three games made him the first kicker in franchise history to make at least three field goals in three consecutive games without missing a single kick.Even with his one miss against the Giants, Barth made it four straight games with at least three field goals made, and he is the first kicker in franchise history to do that. McBride was on the field for just three. No NY running back gained 50 yards, but the Giants combined for 114 yards on 33 carries.
The rookie’s 2-point conversion pass to the rear of the end zone was caught out of bounds. Winston backed his teammates, saying that Evans comes through “nine times out of 10” although he probably would have been talking about a winning performance if that was true on Sunday afternoon. The Giants went 9-for-15 on third downs, including a key catch by Beckham on the final drive to salt away the remaining minutes. Since the start of the 2011 season, he has been the third most accurate field goal kicker in the NFL. “You know he’s definitely a quarterback with arm strength, and we wanted to force him to scramble around and make him uncomfortable”, Rodgers-Cromartie said.
“We did what we had to do to get a win“.
Winston completed 19 of 36 passes for 249 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He also contributed to the nightmare game Mike Evans suffered, jarring the ball lose several times from Tampa Bay’s leading receiver, who had five drops to nullify an otherwise strong day (eight receptions for 152 yards).
The Bucs played the Redskins in Week 7, losing 31-30 on a touchdown pass with 24 seconds left.
They recorded a 32-18 road victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while celebrating the return of defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul to the lineup, more than four months after his July 4 fireworks accident. He came up with two tackles and two hits on Bucs QB Jameis Winston. The top storyline from Sunday’s win though was the return of Jason Pierre-Paul.
“I think he made a couple of outstanding rushes, particularly at the end when the quarterback was forced to roll right and heave the ball up. That was critical at that time”.
