NY Jets -&- Houston Texans NFL football game today
With the Jets trailing by a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Fitzpatrick tossed interceptions on consecutive drives to scuttle comeback hopes.
Yates was a rookie in the 2011 wild card round and saw time that season with Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart both out.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The NY Jets might be without one of their big playmakers on the defensive line. In fact, he didn’t look great last week against the Bills’ Sammy Watkins. Decker has a team-leading seven, while Marshall has six. They successfully made it 12 straight quarters of play without allowing a touchdown.
For Fitzpatrick, it’s a chance to face a former team that traded him after last season.
For the Texans, cornerback A.J. Defensively, the Jets yield 230.3 yards in passing and 88.1 yards in rushing. The Jets have also dropped four of their last five. Antonio Cromartie, Buster Skrine and Marcus Gilchrist are a strong trio in their own right, so the Jets can survive without Revis.
The Texans are an interesting team in that they seem to be really bad, but they continue to win games sporadically. They are actually now sitting in first place in the AFC South, tied with the Colts.
Revis, who was kneed in the head trying to make an open field tackle, was being schooled by Texans’ WR DeAndre Hopkins from the start. Yates deserves a few credit here for a very nice throw, as Hopkins just runs by Revis. Hopkins jumped up and with one hand reeled in that touchdown like it was the easiest thing he’d ever done.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Jets are favored on the road today, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Texans. “When we get [Kareem Jackson] back, it’s going to be even better”.
“A guy like Darrelle Revis who’s been in the National Football League a long time, they study tendencies”, Hopkins said.
This time it was on a play action fake, with Yates doing a few movement in the pocket. Hopkins (questionable, knee) is the focal point of an offense that already lost dual-threat running back Arian Foster, ranking third in the National Football League with 927 receiving yards and averaging 103 receiving yards per game.
“It’s a little nostalgic”, Yates said, “I have a lot of good memories in Cincinnati”.
T.J. Yates, pressed into service because starter Brian Hoyer was out with a concussion, threw two touchdown passes to lead Houston to a 24-17 win over the Jets at NRG Stadium.
