Fitzpatrick said he has grown close with Petty, perhaps because the former seventh-round draft pick who has played for six National Football League teams and has a perpetual chip on his shoulder sees a little of himself in Petty, a fourth-round pick in 2015 who seemed likely to lose his roster spot when the Jets drafted Christian Hackenberg in the second round last spring. Andrew Luck completed 22 of 28 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Colts.

Spiller recently saw an increase in playing time over the past two weeks – he saw the field in an average of 18.5% of offensive snaps, primarily appearing in sub packages. Darius Butler was terrific.

NY gave up 421 total yards to the Colts, turned the ball over three times and went 3-11 on third down. And that’s before you get a game like this on your record, the kind of game that gets a coach fired. It was 41-10 and it could have been worse, for crying out loud. I’m sure there are some people who showed up, but for the most part, we got our ass kicked. They know the margin for error is slim to none. Kaepernick was benched Sunday against the Bears after going 1-for-5 for 4 yards and getting sacked five times. The Colts’ chances are much better if Luck’s Monday night play becomes a homestretch habit.
