“We will not submit to their wishes”, De Blasio said.
The mayor still cautioned the people of NY City to be alert and inform the authorities right away should they notice anything suspicious.
Officials, including NY City Mayor Bill de Blasio, stress there are no credible and specific threats. It reduces reliance on homeless shelters, hospitals, mental-health institutions and jails, according to the mayor’s statement.
“In NY we understand that we are a terrorist target”. It reflects the importance of this city.

“People can feel comfortable coming into the city, enjoying themselves”, Bratton said.
“Be aware, but do not be afraid”, he said. Mr.de Blasio encouraged New Yorkers to be conscious of threats, but not live in fear. “They seek to intimidate”, Bratton said. He also cited the danger of individuals who manage to escape the radar of intelligence gatherers, saying, “We know in the age of lone wolves, there are a few things that even the best intelligence services may not be able to detect. Rita Katz, director of SITE Intelligence Group, an organisation that tracks terror groups, said: “Footage of NY shown in the ISIS video was taken from a video released by the group in April of this year”.
NY police have issued a statement to say they are aware of the footage. “That video was simply boilerplate that (the Islamic State group) uses to attract attention”.
But the numbers showed otherwise – there are almost 58,000 people living in the city shelters, up about 13 percent from two years ago and both police reports and 311 complaints about homeless people are up this year from last. It remains unclear whether Abaaoud was among those killed.
Prosecutors in Paris say police raided the apartment after getting a tip that Abaaoud was holed up there. The captured weapons include 11 military-style firearms, 33 rifles and 31 handguns.
