NY1 puts Anthony Weiner on indefinite leave

Ms Hillary Clinton’s closest aide, Ms Huma Abedin, said on Monday (Aug 29) that she meant to separate from her husband, Mr Anthony D Weiner, the former congressman and New York City mayoral candidate, after it was reported that Mr Weiner had exchanged suggestive images and messages with a woman while the couple’s young child was beside him.

Abedin, 41, is a longtime Clinton aide and confidante who is often referred to as the candidate’s second daughter. But she has been thrust into the spotlight for another attribute — as a wronged political wife.

Weiss said she needed her “Anthony time”.

The former congressman resigned in 2011 after texting explicit photos to women.

Weiner’s relationship with Abedin is scrutinized during a recent documentary on his unsuccessful 2013 bid for a political comeback during the New York City mayoral primary.

“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband”, Abedin said in a statement sent to the media. They accuse her of being a Saudi spy, a self-dealing insider, the mastermind behind a plot to hide Clinton’s email.

Weiner deleted his Twitter account Monday morning. I mean, she’s in line, we’ve heard she’s gonna be – she’s chief aide now. “During this hard time, I ask for respect for our privacy”, she added. Abedin remained in the Hamptons with her son and was not expected to join Clinton there to attend campaign fund-raisers on Monday.

At first glance, Trump appeared to be turning over a new leaf in his long line of misogynistic wrong doings by encouraging Abedin in her decision to separate from her perpetually cheating husband. Abedin’s imprimatur can be found all over Clinton’s world: on emails she sent to Clinton trying to explain how to use a fax machine, high-stakes diplomatic efforts in Libya (Abedin got hauled before the House committee on the Benghazi attacks for questioning) and the care and feeding of billionaire donors.

The latest sexting scandal is the last straw for Abedin.

Weiner’s latest image found its way into the New York Post on Monday and features a close up view of his budging underwear while his five-year-old son lies beside him.

Ms Abedin said she was “furious and sickened” by the picture, which she claims not have known about until this weekend.

Loyalty to Abedin, however, did not stop Clinton friends from speculating about why she chose to stay with Weiner or why she married him in the first place.

Abedin, 41, has been at Clinton’s side for two decades. Maybe the new dark green suit. More recently, Abedin’s name has surfaced in emails disclosed as part of Clinton’s private email server controversy. Federal prosecutors ultimately declined to issue charges in the cases. Abedin is now the vice chair of Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. This may come as no surprise, since he’s even donated to the Clinton Foundation. “It´s just another example of Hillary Clinton´s bad judgment”, Trump said in a statement. Copies of Clinton’s calendar obtained by AP confirm the meeting occurred in her State Department office on June 26, 2009.

Unfortunately for anyone who wants to try and keep lurid or sensationalistic topics out of the campaign, however, Donald Trump has already done more than enough to lower that bar himself, without any help from Anthony Weiner or Hillary Clinton. He suggested that Weiner might have compromised national security, but offered no evidence to support the allegation.

The statement went on to criticise Clinton for allowing Weiner close proximity to classified information, suggesting that this had compromised United States security.

On Sunday, the New York Post published a gallery of texts between Weiner, who has used the nom de plume of Carlos Danger in previous sex-capades, and a brunette divorcee in her 40s.
