NYC Firefighter Killed In Huge Fire On Set Of Edward Norton Movie

It was now being used as a set location for the 1950s-set “Motherless Brooklyn”, which is directed by and stars Edward Norton. He was only 37 years old.

Several reports have indicated that the fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Thursday.

It is unclear on how the fire began, with investigations still ongoing.

Investigators were examining whether a faulty boiler in the five-story building might have sparked the blaze. The crew noticed smoke seeping onto the set from other parts of the building below.

Davidson, who served NY for 15 years, died at Harlem Hospital due to his injuries.

The FDNY Foundation announced the charitable effort Friday. However, Davidson and his two colleagues got separated as the monstrous fire’s flames gained weight, and sadly, the father of four was separated from the pack.

Davidson spent his entire 15-year career at Engine Company 69, Ladder 28 in Manhattan, fondly called the Harlem Hilton. He comes from a long line of firefighters. He died at Harlem hospital at 12:16 a.m. EDT.

“Motherless Brooklyn”, the film being shot in the Harlem building that caught fire Thursday night, has been a passion project for Edward Norton, who spent almost 20 years trying to get the film off the ground.

The fire erupted on the set of Motherless Brooklyn which was being filmed in a closed jazz club in Harlem.

Aside from Davidson, two other firefighters sustained serious burns and three civilians reported minor injuries.

Davidson, who served the FDNY for 15 years, was critically injured while fighting the five-alarm blaze in the basement of an unoccupied residential building, according to US Magazine.

Davidson leaves behind four daughters and a wife.

“This is an very bad night”, mayoral press secretary Eric Phillips tweeted.

“A fire broke out tonight in the building where we were shooting our film”, the statement read, according to ABC News. Authorities say at least one other person was injured and taken to an area hospital.

He also has a brother Eric who is a city fireman, as well as their dad Robert, who is a retired FDNY.

The dead firefighter has not been officially identified.

“It’s devastating to contemplate that one of the men we watched charging in there lost his life”, he said.

The film, which is scheduled to be released next year, is about a private detective with Tourette’s syndrome who tries to solve his best friend’s murder in the 1950s in NY.
