O’Malley event in Iowa draws just one voter
But former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, one of just three candidates for the Democratic nomination, pressed on and that meant that one event only had one attendee.
After the hour began to wane and the conversation started to slow, Kenneth got more personal and praised O’Malley for following through with the event despite the treacherous weather. Marco Rubio – Republican presidential candidates – had both planned to barnstorm the state before getting snowed out.
“The very last event of the night, we actually had a whopping total of one person show up”, O’Malley said today. “I will tell you the weather was much worse in Illinois”, Christie said, to laughter.
A photo posted to Twitter by an ABC News reporter showed the voter seated at a table with O’Malley in Tama, Iowa. O’Malley’s campaign told CNN that events would go forward, snow or no snow. “So we spent the time with him”, O’Malley said in a Tuesday interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe“. “It’s about the connections, and that’s particularly true when it comes to discussing the path our country will take in the years of time ahead”.
O’Malley made a round of fundraising appearances for Hatch in Iowa last month, along with a speech at the state party convention.
“I’m working on him”, O’Malley said.
In New Hampshire, which holds its primary a week after the Iowa caucuses, O’Malley receives an average of 1.8 percent in the polls. Vastly overshadowed by Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the only traction O’Malley has been capable of getting lately seems to be for his campaign’s lack of attention.
