O’Reilly Lectures Trump For Missing Fox Debate: ‘I Was Right’
“Let’s just say they tape earlier in the day, which is an advantage to us”, Kelly told Colbert, nodding toward the fact that her show is live and theirs are taped.
“I don’t like her”, he said in January, as he considered a Fox News boycott.
Kelly has been at the heart of Trump’s feud with Fox News ever since she called out the GOP hopeful for his derogatory comments about women during a Republican debate in August. “I think he will be”.
“I think he will be – he hasn’t committed yet – but I think he’ll show up at that one, which is great because Brett, Chris and I will be moderating it”, Kelly said, referring to Fox colleagues Bret Baier and Chris Wallace.
Kelly responded that the cable news outlet was not feuding with Trump, citing his 140 appearances on the network in the a year ago, but conceded that he “does have a beef with me”.
Instead of attending the debate, Trump held a campaign rally a few miles away, billing the event as a way to raise money for veterans’ charities.
The Jan. 28 debate without Trump drew a still-impressive 12.5 million and stands as the No. 2 audience in Fox News history.
‘And what happened, because I didn’t do it, I raised $6million for the vets. I mean, you are the ideal one to ask that question – you have been, you know, under fire from me for a long time and you are far from a woman.
Megyn Kelly now serves as anchor of FOX News Channel’s The Kelly File.
“And then we’re going to have at it, like we’ve had at it with all the other guys – and Carly – up there”, Kelly said.
He later said Fox News had apologized for the statement and that the situation had been resolved. “You want to be covering the story so it was like an Alice-through-the-looking-glass experience”. “As I’ve said before, I would rather set myself on fire in front of the Fox News studio than go on the debate stage with that”.
Trump has yet to commit to March 3rd’s debate, but Megyn doesn’t plan to go easy on him. Post-debate, Trump’s “period” insult precipitated more sexist insults directed at Kelly, such as using the word “bimbo” in reference to Kelly and tweeting seductive photos of Kelly to suggest her as unprofessional.
