O’s take advantage of White Sox mistakes

Baltimore has lost four of its last five games.

Back in the majors, Jonathan Schoop quickly made an impact. The White Sox have done well over the past two weeks with Saturday’s win being their 7th in eleven contests. Chicago was trying to sweep the Orioles for the first time since 2005.

The White Sox are 3-2 against the Orioles this season. The teams then split a doubleheader in Baltimore on May 28.

The White Sox thrived on the mound as well, limiting the Cardinals to two runs and 15 hits.

Av.Garcia struck out. Gillaspie singled to center, LaRoche to second.. The offense – so powerful throughout June – had seemed to disappear in July.

While the Sox have scored just four runs in the first two games of this series, the heart of the order is starting to produce more. Anibal Sanchez has also struggled this year, as he has a 4.65 ERA in 17 starts.

Jones can’t pinpoint why Danks has his number. Hardy is a. 348 career hitter against Danks with a home run and four RBI.

Samardzija did make it harder on himself by spiking a 1-2 splitter to Chris Parmalee, which allowed both runners to move up 90 feet. This is a good matchup for the righty as he looks to pick up where he left off last weekend.

Sale once said that it would take winning multiple championships to potentially supplant Buehrle as the premier pitcher in White Sox history, and now he’ll get his first chance to go head-to-head with the veteran. The home run ended Baltimore’s scoreless streak at 26 2-3 innings.

Normally one of the worst offensive teams in baseball, the Chicago White Sox finally flashed their run-scoring ability in an impressive road victory. Last week, my column mentioned the possibility that the Orioles could land the 2014 All-Star.

Samardzija allowed eight runs, seven earned, in five innings during his previous start against Baltimore on April 29. He has thrown at least seven innings in six consecutive starts. Manny Machado is 5-for-6 against him with a double and a pair of home runs.

When they outhit their opponents, the Orioles are 31-8. He’ll be looking to turn it around come Sunday.

Carlos Rodon is 3-1 on the season with a 4.07 ERA in nine starts.

Pirates 1, Indians 0: Jeff Locke pitched eight innings of two-hit ball, retiring his last 19 batters, and Neil Walker had an RBI single to lift Pittsburgh. He struck out Caleb Joseph and got Ryan Flaherty to fly out.

The Orioles did manage to touch him the third time through the order.
