Obama Administration Says States May Not Reject Syrian Refugees
A day after about half of the country’s governors promised to block Syrian refugees from resettling in their states, religious and nonprofit leaders warned those governors that their actions could separate families and cause irreparable damage to public sentiment toward refugees.
European media say EU officials believe two of the Islamic State terrorists who attacked Paris this month had entered Europe as part of a Syrian refugee wave. “What makes America America is that we offer that chance”.
But Obama has insisted the U.S. will remain a welcoming place for refugees from around the world.
The bill’s backers say that if the Obama administration has really vetted all of the refugees as it says, such certification should be easy and will go a long way toward ensuring Americans that someone is directly responsible for the program. It’s the federal government’s role to process applications for refugee status, and up to the federal government to decide who is let into the country.
And perspective? Canada has committed to accepting 25,000 Syrian refugees, and Germany may absorb 800,000 by the end of the year.

His office declined to comment on the letter, but the state agency that oversees refugee resettlement in Texas said it will not change course.
“People should remember that no refugee can enter our borders until they undergo the highest security checks of anyone traveling to the United States”, Obama said in his address. Even if the USA admitted the 10,000 Syrian refugees the Obama Administration has promised, it would remain an infinitesimal portion of the more than 4.2 million Syrian refugees registered with the U.N. Still, in a new Fox News poll, 67 percent of voters – including almost half of Democrats – oppose admitting the refugees.
Like some Americans, the monarchs in the Gulf states appear to be suspicious of accepting Muslims who they fear could have a destabilizing effect on their societies. At the same time, a recent Ipsos survey commissioned by World Vision found that 71 percent of Americans said they would be willing to help Syrian refugees.
The White House recently posted a graphic timeline of the refugee screening process.
“The Gulf States have accepted zero refugees registered with the United Nations and administered through the U.N. resettlement program”.
