Obama believes Congress will back Iran deal
Schumer’s New York colleague, Sen.
“Even though the Obama administration says this is transactional, that it is only intended to deal with the nuclear program, the real thrust of this is that it is intended to be transformational”.
The Obama administration has been locked in a public battle with Congress about the agreement, amid fierce opposition from many Republicans as well as some key Democrats, including Sen.
It will also impose provisions for inspections of Iranian facilities, including military sites.
Republicans are nearly universally opposed at this point.
But Schumer, the only Democratic senator so far to publicly oppose the deal, addressed the issue Tuesday for the second time in two days, directly challenging Secretary of State Kerry’s claim that new talks aren’t possible if Congress blocks the deal.
“We found them red-handed with facilities they should not have had, with materials they should not have had”, Kerry said. “He was very open and I thought he was more concise than I have ever seen him“, McCarthy said.
Convincing its allies to comply with the anti-Iran sanctions again should Washington reject the deal, after all the effort that went into the agreement with Iran and other parties to the deal, would be unrealistic, Kerry emphasized in his speech on Tuesday. “It is based on verification and the knowledge that we have the ability to enforce this regime”.
This is a serious matter, and a nuclear Iran is a nightmare. “They became that while we had a policy of no enrichment”, he said, referencing the continued demand of Republicans and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Though economists have been saying a competing currency like the euro or the yuan may dethrone the dollar as and when global trade and financial patterns shift, the U.S. currency’s might has not been affected because of the lack of a strong alternative.
If it passes, the deal could unravel, and the only other option for responding to Iran is military action. “If the Iranians cheat, our advanced technology, intelligence and the inspections will reveal it, and U.S. military options remain on the table”.
“While President Obama is fantastic as a campaigner and a politician that we saw in 2008 to 2012, [but] his messaging on the Iran deal has been disgusting, and he has not risen to the occasion to stand up against AIPAC and the Jewish Zionist lobby that are basically having a free hand”, he noted.
The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, on Friday said officials are seeking details about the reported trip. However, President Obama has promised to veto such a vote and will need 34 Senators and 44 Representatives to sustain his threatened veto.
