Obama calls out Derek Jeter for hustling him at golf
Well not if you’re a certain former pro athlete, who we are just learning has been hustling Barack Obama on the golf course!
President Obama battled the Yankees legend on the golf course in November, but the shortstop wasn’t quite the easy target that POTUS believed he was. “And as we got up to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere”.
Derek Jeter has been called out by President Obama.
Calling it a “setup”, the president continued, “I knew Derek, but I hadn’t played golf with him before”.
Obama said they spotted Jeter 30 strokes., but Obama said he realized that was a awful mistake as soon as they hit the first hole.
“He and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek”. “Despite that, Brian is a great friend”.
The President and others at the fundraiser got a good laugh from the story, which came after his keynote address during the National Clean Energy Summit 8.0 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Derek Jeter was lauded throughout his career for that intangible element of ‘playing the game right’.
President Obama can either chalk it up to beginner’s luck or say Jeter hustled him.
APPresident Barack Obama pointing at Derek Jeter during a 2010 ceremony honoring the Yankees’ World Series championship from the prior year. But Obama should’ve known better.
According to CNN’s State of the Union Address, Obama has played over 1,000 hours of golf (around 247 rounds).
Jeter retired from baseball after the 2014 season.
