Some Democrats believe Trump will flood the Senate with so many controversial picks that lawmakers will be forced to accept some who would ordinarily provoke a fight.
Clinton voters almost unanimously want Trump to try to work with Democrats (interestingly, so do a majority of Trump voters) even though they want their own leaders to stand up to him. “The pendulum always swings”.
Assuming the Republicans hold on to the Marcellino seat, they would have the needed 32 votes, with Felder, to hang on to the majority.
In a rare sweep, Republican leaders have now assumed control of the US presidency and Congress.

He would have known that the Democratic Party took loyal Democratic voters for granted. Adults should tell kids that our country’s democracy is carried out by many people and we all need to work together for the common good.

Most state legislatures – at last check, 36 – draw the congressional boundaries for 336 of the 435 House districts.
Leading Democrats have also been voicing grave concerns about Pompeo, a member of the House Intelligence Committee and one of the more vocal members of the House’s Benghazi panel investigating Clinton. Democrats have a choice – to hold the line or to imitate Trump’s “America first” appeals.
That Republican dominance could wane. Sure Hillary won the popular vote. The Kansas Republican has drawn sharp rebukes from US -based Muslim organizations for saying faith leaders who don’t denounce terrorist acts done in the name of Islam are “potentially complicit” in the attacks. Almost two-thirds of Democratic voters told Pew their leaders should stand up to him on important issues, even if means less gets done in Washington.
For Democrats, that is a sobering realization – one that many of us are naturally avoiding.
“Trump is president, we have a bigger opportunity to take the Congress, just following history, in our generation of being involved in politics”, said the California Democrat. Following Trump’s victory on November 8, his transition team said it will be “working to dismantle the Dodd-Frank Act and replace it with new policies to encourage economic growth and job creation”.
“I’m skeptical that a populism focused on expanding government will work for voters in this country”, said Kessler.
