Obama considers using executive authority to expand gun buyer background checks

Democrats want to close what they say is a loophole in the law that doesn’t require background checks for guns sold over the Internet or at gun shows.

The senators will demand that “all domestic abusers” are banned from purchasing firearms, and that people are not allowed buy guns without a completed background check.

President Barack Obama is “seriously considering” using his executive authority to act on guns before he leaves the White House, The Washington Post reported. As far as I can tell, this recent shooter’s illness was either not diagnosed or was hidden by family members so background checks did not reveal any problems.

The hardliners are so entrenched with protecting the Second Amendment that they are willing to destroy our country. Both groups are pandering to their political base, and neither will be able to keep these hollow promises.

According to the Pew Research Center, Americans say protecting gun rights is more important than gun control by a margin of 52 percent to 46 percent. Our state isn’t secure if innocent civilians can be so easily murdered when weapons are put in the wrong hands. I have grave reservations about this.

Well-trained police officers make mistakes and kill innocent bystanders during shootouts with criminals. “And you’re supposed to fire back in a crowded dark theater?”

While their talking points claim to represent the interests of the American people they were elected to serve, it’s hard to see where they’re getting their information when support for stricter gun laws is at an all time low.
