Obama: Destruction of IS is the main goal of the US
Even though that France and the United States have been an ally for a very long time now, the relations between the two countries may never have been stronger because of the ISIS crisis.
According to CNN Politics, the presidents are considering intensifying the attacks on ISIS in Syria and Iraq, especially after the Paris attacks, which seemed to have opened a new phase of the war on terror. “What makes America America is that we offer that chance”.
“I reject identifying migration and terrorism”, Hollande said.
The U.S. president said the problem Washington faced was “Russia’s focus on propping up (Syrian President) Assad rather than focusing on ISIL”, using another acronym for IS. ISIS “cannot be tolerated”. It must be destroyed. Russian Federation has agreed in principle to a process that would lead to U.N.-supervised elections within 18 months but continues to oppose explicitly removing Assad.
“Sixty-five countries doing nothing is not a coalition”, he said.
Shortly after his speech, a fresh scare on European soil arose, when suspicious packages with white powder were discovered at a prominent mosque in Brussels, the city that was home to the alleged ringleader of the Paris attacks. It’s the same madness that has slaughtered the innocent from Nigeria to the Sinai, from Lebanon to Iraq.
“You helped us win our independence, we helped the French to break free from fascism”, said Mr Obama, as usual forgetting to emphasize the crucial role played by the USSR in the liberation of the continent.
Hollande’s visit to the USA underscored the urgency on counterterrorism after the November 13 Paris attacks by IS, which killed at least 130 people and injured hundreds of others. “And what happened in Paris hasn’t stopped Americans from opening their arms anyway”.
“One woman from Pennsylvania wrote me to say, ‘Money is tight for us in my household…”
Russia carried out heavy raids in Syria’s northern Latakia province on Wednesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said, in the same area where Turkey downed the Russian fighter. “The only goal we must have is fighting Daesh and neutralize the terrorists, there is no other goal”, he stated, referencing to ISIS by its Arab acronym.
“Nous sommes tous francais (We are all French)”, Obama said, concluding with “Vive la France!”
After the press conference, Vice President Joe Biden told reporters gathered in the East Room that he believed “Putin is coming to the realization that Assad should transition out”.
Obama didn’t lack emotion, but he still played down and and remained calm, while Hollande had a greater sense of urgency, including when they discussed Turkey shooting down a Russian military plane.
“We will not give in”. “We can only regret it”, he said.
“We feel more like working with him than the United States does, but we reached the conclusion that we had to”, the official said.
