Obama Endorses Hillary Clinton for President
That made her the first woman to lead a major USA party as its White House candidate. Clinton has won 13 of the past 19 Democratic contests, compared with Obama’s wins in three of the last 10 in 2008.
The endorsement came just hours after Obama met with Sanders at the White House. “I’m confident he will be a good good campaigner for the Democratic senators and the Democratic nominee”. “He wants four more years of Obama–but nobody else does”, Trump tweeted.
Clinton’s campaign tweeted a brash response: “Delete your account”.
Calling Trump a threat and a danger, she pledged to do all she can to make sure he never sets foot in the White House as president.
Warren, whose rhetoric on income inequality and economic populism is in the same vein as that of Sanders, is frequently mentioned as a potential running mate for Clinton, though it’s unclear whether she is being formally vetted for the position.
Sanders said, however, that he would stay in the race to compete in the final Democratic primary vote in Washington, DC, on June 14.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., both have strongly condemned those comments, but Warren, D-Mass., argued that McConnell and Ryan are really no better than Trump on the issue of judges.
Reid wants to listen to what Sanders has to say and is not interested in strong-arming his colleague, according to a source familiar with Reid’s thinking. He suggested that Sanders was close to acknowledging defeat by Clinton. “I think she is an incredible public servant, eminently qualified for any role”.
A source said the decision was made for Warren to endorse Clinton Thursday, on the heels of Obama’s endorsement, “To make it more forceful for the overall goal”.
Obama has consistently praised his former secretary of state.
Barack Obama is now in the game. Among Democrats, his approval rating was 82.3 percent, though 84.3 percent of Republicans disapproved of his leadership. Warren, like Sanders, is a progressive and fiery critic of Wall Street. He’s promising supporters he’ll help Clinton shape Democratic policies, and stop what he says is their biggest threat.
It capped a remarkable day for Clinton, which included endorsements from President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. “I look forward to meeting with her in the near future” to discuss how to defeat Trump.
“I know how hard this job can be. She’s got the courage, the compassion, and the heart to get the job done”, the president said. Charles E. Schumer of NY.
