Obama, Erdogan vow to step up ISIS fight
Those efforts in Syria have been complicated by Russian Federation and Iran s support for President Bashar al-Assad and Moscow s aerial bombardments of his foes, many of whom are not linked to Islamic State.
The Socialist Alliance (Australia) adds it voice to the global condemnation of the terror bombing of a peace rally organised by trade unions, NGOs, the Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) and other progressive parties in Ankara on October 10. They try to do this sneakily by carrying out a bloody act and then throwing people off scent. It is pious, but not intolerant, with no outward sign of the militancy that marks the Islamist militants.
“His Holiness Pope Francis is deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the injuries caused by the explosions in Ankara this morning, and he expresses his heartfelt solidarity with those affected by this tragedy”, Cardinal Parolin said in his October 11 telegram.
With an eye to reports that Moscow has also sent arms to the Kurds, he stressed, “This stance has been conveyed to the United States and Russian Federation”.
There are other forces who could also be theoretical beneficiaries of the bombing. A former official with the country’s central bank says the side effects of such a long, one-person rule, including corruption and a lack of judicial independence, are reducing companies’ willingness to invest.
The peace rally that targeted on October 10th was agitating for an end to the violence between Kurdish rebels and Turkish security forces.
“As we go to the November 1 elections, there are those now trying to block the establishment of long-term stability in the country”, Davutoğlu said.
Sinirlioglu said: “If they resort to any action against Turkey, then the necessary response would be given without any hesitation”.
Now their faces and those of others from the town are emblazoned across national newspapers.
At least 102 people were killed in the twin bombings which came three weeks ahead of a general election. The BBC reported that Turkeys Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said there was evidence that two suicide bombers had carried out the attacks. Furthermore claiming that those who support them are being killed, they even play the role of a wronged party.
Along the Turkish-Syrian border in the city of Cizre, local resistance is hardening towards the Turkish state. “Conservative Kurdish youth were marginalised”.
Once the Turks began their own bombing runs into Syria, however, they used the new access as an opportunity to go after Kurdish positions inside Syria instead, attacking numerous ground forces who are fighting ISIS.
While Turkey has continued to help ISIS facilitate the movement of recruits and supplies into Syria, Ankara has agreed to aid the United States in going after ISIS in Syria in exchange for Washington’s use of its Incirlik Airbase. A few reports put the death toll as high as 128. “After that, Yunus Emre Alagoz and his brother Seyh Abdurrahman left for Syria”. In July, a suicide bomber killed 33 young socialists and aid workers at a cultural center in the southeastern city of Suruc. Their son, Haci, was identified in Turkish newspapers as among 21 people being investigated over the Ankara blasts, 18 of them from Adiyaman.
Those peace talks, the work of two years, went up in flames after the Suruc bombing. He returned a few seven months later and tried to take his mother’s gold bracelets, accusing her of being an infidel and saying he wanted to give money to “our Muslim brothers fighting in Syria”.
