Obama hits gym before returning to vacation home

In mid-October, Obama played his 200th round of golf since arriving in the White House, according to the widely trusted record-keeper on the president’s games, CBS White House reporter Mark Knoller. An important distinction to make, however, is that Obama has spread out his almost 250 rounds of golf over the course of his seven years as president so far. The Obamas will stay in Hawaii through 2 January.

Obama has had to occasionally either reduce or cancel his vacation time in response to the events of the day.

On the way to Hawaii, Obama stopped in Southern California to speak with family members of those killed in the San Bernardino shootings. Trump said at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Monday night, the Washington Post reported. Some suggest that the laid back aloha culture of the nation’s 50th state has played a role in shaping Obama’s decision-making process as president. But aloha is also sometimes interpreted as an acronym for five words meaning kindness (akahai), unity (lokahi), agreeability (olu’olu), humility (ha’aha’a) and patience (ahonui).

In the evening, the first family ate at Morimoto Waikiki, a restaurant that they regularly go to when they visit the islands. And that makes it a sore point for some.

No one could ever accuse President Obama of not getting in enough practice. “I said, “Hello Mr. President.’ And he told us, ‘Merry Christmas” and he waved at us”.
