Obama is glad Joe Biden not running for president
Mr. Biden announced Wednesday that he won’t seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, ending months of speculation.
However, those familiar with Biden’s deliberations say it became increasingly clear in recent days that he would have faced substantial logistical challenges in mounting a campaign this late in the primary process.
Alas it was not meant to be.
“During his announcement Wednesday, the vice president did not endorse a candidate on the Democratic side”.
Farr is another Democrat who agrees that by bowing out, Biden’s decision will likely give Clinton a boost.
Biden’s announcement ended a highly public “will he or won’t he?” political guessing game about his intentions that had shadowed Clinton’s campaign and frozen the support of a few Democratic activists and donors.
“While I am not going to be a candidate, I won’t be silent”, said Biden. In what could have been a campaign speech, Biden deplored the influence of unlimited contributions on politics, called for expanding access to college educations and called on Democrats to recognize that while Republicans may be the opposition, they are ‘not our enemy’. “I also commend @VP’s outlining of an agenda to make college free, fight economic inequality, close tax loopholes & protect dignity for all”. “I think he would just get in the race and stop it all up”, Salinas Democrat Joann Harris said. Heddens said she’s sad about Biden’s decision but respects it. Heddens added that she will take a few time before deciding who to throw her support to for the Democratic nomination. “I think that Joe Biden is the kind of person we need in Washington, D.C. right now leading this country”, Mayor Clark said. “We’re making a tragic mistake if we walk away from, or try to undo, the Obama legacy,”, said Joe Biden, quoted by the same source.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and independent Vermont Sen.
Other factors are also believed to have had a bearing on Mr Biden’s decision.
A CNN/ORC poll released Monday showed that Trump competes better against Clinton: he trailed her 50% to 45% and against Biden, that gap was greater: 53% to 43%.
While Clinton has dominated the race for the Democratic nomination, there’s clearly at least a few thirst among Democrats for an alternative.
