Obama: not going to do an ‘Iraq-style invasion’ in Iraq, Syria
Prime Minister David Cameron argued Isis is a threat to Britain’s security and the country should support France after the Paris attacks by joining it in bombing terrorist targets.
Mr Erdogan attacked Russian claims that his family was involved as “immoral” after Russian military chiefs publicly accused the Turkish government of funnelling millions of dollars in illicit oil revenues to Isil terrorists in Syria and Iraq. Now, they suggest that they support something else. We intend to stay vigilant, and take action if these terrorist forces threaten our personnel or facilities anywhere in Iraq, including our consulate in Irbil and our embassy in Baghdad.
The United States has already been pummeling the extremist group’s de facto capital of Raqqa, Syria.
“Right now it’s a concept for what we want to do”, the official said.
Mr Cameron said: “We are going to need to be patient and persistent”. “ISIL is not going to pose an existential threat to us, they are a risky organization like al Qaeda was, but we have hardened our defenses, our homeland has never been more protected by more effective intelligence and law enforcement professionals at every level than they are now”. This is a core principle of my presidency: If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.
North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson said he would be voting with the government, but added: “What we are lacking is a clear long-term objective”. “Asked later if he meant Western ground forces, Mr Kerry said: “(I’m) talking about Syrian and Arab, as we have been consistently”. “More Americans will be coming here to Iraq and some of them will be conducting raids inside of both Iraq and Syria”. “And he rushed to help them and made it possible for them to be effective”. “And that is the only solution that will succeed over the long term”.
The Royal Air Force is already bombing Syria. Chief among them is the last remaining 60 miles of Islamic State-controlled territory along the Turkish border in northwest Syria. And that’s exactly what we’ve done.
“Since the beginning of the counter-ISIS campaign the United Kingdom has been one of our most valued partners in fighting ISIS”.
When I said no boots on the ground I think the American people understood generally that were not going to do an Iraq style invasion of Iraq or Syria with battalions that are moving across the dessert, the USA president said.
“The action authorised by MPs is in the national interest”.
There are now about 3,550 US soldiers stationed in Iraq, according to The New York Post.
A day after U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced the creation of a “specialized expeditionary targeting force”, military officials said that despite earlier, larger estimates, the force would consist of about 100 people, with fewer “trigger pullers” based on the ground in Iraq. It doesn’t represent us assuming a combat role.
“The deployment of additional special operations forces to Iraq should be a wake-up call to Congress”, she said in a statement. “You really have to absolutely have the best intelligence that you can possibly get”.
