Obama, Putin discuss Syria, Ukraine in quick summit meet

President Barack Obama has said that while he won’t spend his time criticising Donald Trump, but he will speak up for American “values or ideals”.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte said on Monday he missed the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ photo shoot and gala dinner in Lima, Peru because of jet lag.

It was the first time they had met since the U.S. presidential election and the shock victory of Donald Trump, who has pursued a far warmer relationship with Putin than Obama did. He’ll meet Sunday with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in between other sessions with world leaders attending an annual Asia-Pacific summit being held in Lima, Peru.
