Obama recites love poem to wife on national television

The president is expected to arrive in Palm Springs today around noon.

Barack Obama may be the President of the United States, but it appears his wife Michelle wears the pants at home.

“Surprise! I just wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day”, Michelle says in the video.

US President Barack Obama recently credited talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres with changing “hearts and minds” in the battle for LGBT rights. “It’s our last one that we’ll share in the White House and in honor of that I wrote you a little Valentine’s Day poem that I wanted to share”. The best decision I ever made was choosing you.

Obama walked over to the set and got started with his message, “Somebody call the situation room, because things are about to get hot”, he said.

During his presidency, Obama passed hate crimes legislation, repealed the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, and he evolved on marriage equality before his reelection, proving to Democrats that it was possible to win even while for marriage equality.

The segment, taped ahead of Valentine’s Day on Sunday, included a light-hearted valentine exchange with the first lady.

We’ve always known that the president is close with his two daughters, but to hear him say that Malia is one of his best friends was super sweet. And it’s going to be hard for me not to have her around all the time.

He said he declined an invitation to speak at her upcoming graduation. “I said ‘absolutely not, ‘ because I’m going to be sitting there with dark glasses, sobbing”, Obama said.

Obama is in the midst of a weeklong visit to California.

Obama will spend the next 4 1/2 days at the Sunnylands retreat in Rancho Mirage, for three day of leisure activities and a two-day summit with Southeast Asian leaders, starting Monday.
