Obama: Reject cynicism, fear and vote for Hillary
Biden spoke about Hillary Clinton as a smart and passionate leader, noting he’s known her for more than 30 years and has worked with her in the Senate and over weekly breakfasts when she was Secretary of State.
Biden went on to slam Trump for exploring American’s fears about terrorist attacks from ISIS, for wanting to back away from long-standing global partnerships like North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, and for embracing Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, US intelligence officials and cybersecurity experts believe, was involved in a cyberattack against the Democratic National Committee’s email servers specifically created to influence the outcome of the election.
Kaine, Obama and Biden are all expecting to speak in prime-time during the four-hour extravaganza commencing at around 7 p.m. ET (ABC) at the Wells Fargo Center, which will also feature speeches by former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey and former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
The vice president also endeavored to use Trump’s reality TV stardom against him.
Jill Biden says her husband was authentic before it was a buzzword, and when Joe Biden talks about “ordinary people like us who do extraordinary things”, it rings true. As he often does, he assured us that he was being serious, honest, and that this was important. Trump, he said, should never be commander-in-chief. Trump has no national security experience and few ties to the norms that have governed US foreign policy under presidents from both parties, including standing by North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies threatened by countries including Russian Federation. “To state the obvious, and I’m not trying to be a wiseguy, that’s not Donald Trump’s story”, he charged.
Flatly rejecting Trump’s views both on foreign policy and the economy, Biden scorched the GOP candidate as the most unprepared nominee ever, and suggested he could put nothing less than the worldwide order at risk.
Clinton joined Obama on stage to a thunderous applause after the speech. Tim Kaine, introduced himself to the nation as a formidable foil to Trump in his own right.
In a move aimed at broadening Clinton’s appeal, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg – an independent who considered launching a third party bid for president – endorsed the Democratic nominee.
President Barack Obama says Republican Donald Trump “is somebody who likes attention and maybe surprised himself that he got this far”. They recognize that Republicans, as well as many Democrats, have questions about Clinton’s character but hope to ease those concerns.
Still, the core of Clinton’s strategy is putting back together Obama’s winning White House coalition.
“I was so young that time in Boston”, said Obama.
The aides said in a statement Wednesday that the sum includes $37 million she raised for House Democrats from April through June this year. Democrats have little noted the threat of terrorism or the Islamic State group, though both were expected to be more relevant in Wednesday’s program.
Of Trump, he said, “This guy doesn’t have a clue about the middle class”. He would have liked to be his party’s nominee, and we’ll never know if he could have defeated Hillary Clinton. “That’s who we are”, Biden said. Clinton was officially nominated Tuesday evening, making her the first woman to be the head of a major party’s ticket in American history. Earlier in his speech, the President asked Americans to carry Clinton, the same way they carried him.
I’m from NY. Hollywood stars also showed up to say “I’m with her” on the big night. Clinton has said those emails were private.
