Obama’s daughter to work on Girls set
However, a handful of media outlets, including Mashable, Us Weekly and Elle, are presuming that the 17-year-old is working as a summer intern on the Lena Dunham-helmed series.
News Max reported that Malia spent about three hours on location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn during filming of Dunham’s show.
“I’m not sure how long she’ll be interning for”, a source tells Us.
Being the daughter of the President of The United States does have some benefits and Malia Obama appears to have utilised her impressive contacts, by bagging herself a dream summer internship.
But despite her young age, this isn’t Malia’s first foray into the entertainment industry.
The teenager graduates from private Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C this autumn and will start university the following year. “[O]h, the perks of being the President’s daughter – chumming with Lena Dunham on the set of HBO’s ‘Girls.'”. Probably, since it’s not like they will really be spending that much time together if this is like most other sets.
The Sydney Morning Herald also noted that Malia also had her internship at a fashion house as she prepared for her return to the capital for her final year and preparation for college.
This prompted Lena, 29 – who tweeted a very sweet happy birthday message to Malia last month – to help Barack and Michelle’s oldest daughter arrange a work experience placement. Just like her father, she is an avid reader, and she enjoys movies.
Congrats and good luck to Malia on her new gig this summer! “She knows that she has years to go to university to explore her passion” revealed the first lady to People magazine in 2012.
