Obama to GOP: This is not a war on Islam
One of the Paris suicide bombers has been identified as a Syrian who entered Europe in the wave of refugees. Clearly there is a heart-breaking humanitarian imperative at stake, but what would you do as president, given this new information? They are parents. They are children.
Instead, I urge you to work with world leaders to create a safe zone for refugees inside Syria or in a neighboring country.
Twenty-five of those refugees came from Syria, eclipsing the seven from that nation who arrived from 2005 to 2014.
“America would benefit from a very robust and rich debate and discussion about what our policies should be with respect to Syria and ISIS, especially if they are thoughts about committing anymore USA forces there”, Woodward said.
Ted Cruz, a United States senator from Texas, also said that the U.S. should provide a “safe haven” for Christian refugees.
“Well, we do that all the time”. She said it takes about three years for refugees to go through stringent security screenings. We need to focus on counterintelligence capabilities that have been weakened when the PATRIOT Act was reauthorized. “We have been and will continue to be a state that embraces compassion and eschews fear mongering, as evidenced so well by Republican Gov. Dan Evans’ welcoming of Vietnamese refugees here in the 1970s”, he added.
At least 12 governors – all Republican – said Monday they would not accept Syrian refugees into their states in response to the attacks.
Gov. John Kasich of OH said in a statement that he, “doesn’t believe the US should accept additional Syrian refugees because security and safety issues can not be adequately addressed”. Read it in full and compare it to every single Republican presidential candidate’s “solution”.
The Paris attacks brought pledges from several political leaders for tougher military action in Syria against the Islamic State (IS) group, which has claimed responsibility for the mass killings.
“What Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are proposing is that we bring to this country tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees”. They and others have also said that Syrians can be re-settled in another region.
For their part, Bush and Cruz noted that Christians are being persecuted in Syria strictly for their religion.
“That is not American, that is not who we are”. He spoke Monday at a news conference in Antalya, Turkey.
“That’s not American. That’s not who we are”.
Have a look at Jeb’s idea for a Christians-only rescue thanks to Raw Story’s YouTube video of the Bush interview. He said the US should continue its strategy of assisting local defense forces, with air support and intelligence assistance.
LAURA INGRAHAM: Apparently we can’t close our doors to anybody.
“As a city and as a country it is not our custom to turn our backs on people who are in need and who are innocent”, Walsh said in a Monday statement. Think we’re an evil, frightful country and more often than not they celebrate attacks against us. The United States should be a part of this humanitarian effort, but not its main financier. But as I explained yesterday, the full context of his quote made it quite clear that anyone doing this is being dishonest. For a purely humanitarian reason? “I think easily we could handle 10,000”.
“That’s the same distinction that ISIS makes between Muslims and Christians”. Appearing on the November 16 edition of Fox Business’ Varney & Co.
Millions of Syrians have fled their war-torn homeland. “We know that ISIS is infiltrating the ranks of these migrants”. Should we let them in?
