Obama: Vladimir Putin Not Leading in Syria Fight
I will tell you, I feel much better being armed, the billionaire businessman said Sunday in an appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation. He made clear, though, that his plans for Syria were guided by an overriding goal: He wants to keep the United States from becoming more deeply involved militarily in a place where he believes that the American force offers no viable, long-term solutions.
Obama pushed back strenuously against several questions CBS News correspondent Steve Kroft asked in the interview, including coming to the defense of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton amid questions over the security of her use of a private email service while she was in office.
Two noteworthy events have occurred in respect of Syria in recent days that are likely to have a wider echo in Russia-America relations, and impact not just the political dynamics in West Asia but also in Europe. He placed partial blame for the refugee crisis on President Barack Obama’s failure to take decisive action after the embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad reportedly used chemical weapons against his own people, Bloomberg reported.
“[Putin] has moved troops into Syria. It’s insane … letting in that many people”, Trump said. Two, the Russians are conducting military operations in the Middle East for the first time since World War II.
Asked if he thought Trump would eventually disappear from the race, Obama replied: “I’ll leave it up to the pundits to make that determination”.
KROFT: bombing the people- that we are supporting. Mr. Earnest wanted to decline Mr. Putin as the requisite player of having Syria have him push Ukraine into the background and mount the global stage. And today, rather than being able to count on their support and maintain the base they had in Syria, which they’ve had for a long time.
“If you think that running your economy into the ground and having to send troops in, in order to prop up your only ally, is leadership, then we’ve got a different definition of leadership”, Obama said.
“They’re going to have riots in Germany”, the Republican presidential frontrunner told CBS’ “Face the Nation” about the German leader’s decision to allow thousands of Syrian refugees into the country. The interview will be broadcast on 60 Minutes Sunday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m ET/PT.
