Oculus Rift pre-orders for $599, will begin shipping 28 March
Despite the disappointing 9 price tag and the hue and cry from fans that had to be answered by Palmer Luckey himself, Oculus Rift preorders were sold out in just 14 minutes after they went live.
Earlier today, Oculus, developer of the headset, has made the Oculus Rift VR headset available for pre-order, and has also revealed more information on the headset’s release. Are you going to pre-order one?
Although the price might sound a bit steep, first batch has apparently sold out in a matter of minutes, pushing the initial ship date from March 28th to April.
Virtual reality is finally here, 2016. Supporters who pledged enough money for the development edition of the Rift will receive a free headset. Oculus Rift, the headset that first sparked interest in VR back in 2012 following a surprisingly successful Kickstarter campaign, has spent years under wraps. It also includes an Xbox One controller, the wireless adapter to connect it to a PC and the Oculus Remote for simplified input.
Oculus Rift pre-orders opened on January 6, and the device will cost $600.
Oculus says that more than 20 games will be coming out for the Rift this year.
Before pre-ordering the Rift from the Oculus Store, customers can check to see if their PCs meet the requirements for the device.
Purchasers will also have access to EVE: Valkyrie at no extra cost and Oculus is promising that the game library will have over 100 titles by the end of 2016.
