Oculus Rift pre-orders will be taken this week
This Wednesday all their hard work will finally pay off. Tomorrow, every netizen that is interested in purchasing the virtual reality headset will be able to pre-order the Rift.
Luckey, will host a Reddit AMA Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET to answer any questions regarding the future of VR and the Rift. Rift will also come bundled with a Microsoft Xbox controller according to an announcement made by Xbox head, Phil Spencer, during an Oculus press conference. While the headsets won’t look any different from normal Rifts, they’ll be “among the first” to ship, and the box will be marked as a Kickstarter Edition.
Oculus has announced, via its official blog, that it will be opening up pre-orders for the Oculus Rift starting on Wednesday. The VR fans were amazed how interactive games could get with this controller when it was firstly introduced during a special Oculus Event that was held past year in June. Samsung partnered with Oculus to release a $99 smartphone powered Gear VR in late 2015.
Designed exclusively for the Oculus Rift, Lucky’s Tale puts you inside a rather vibrant, inviting world, and tasks you with “racing with Lucky through lush trees, dodging swamp pits, battling menacing bosses, or mastering mini-games”. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told the audience during a keynote presentation at the second annual Oculus Connect developers conference, that “virtual reality is the next logical step is fully immersive virtual reality”.
Rift is about perfecting the VR experience, not cost-cutting; to that end, Oculus seems to be preparing would-be early adopters for some sticker shock. HTC and Valve‘s Vive headset, which tech critics have already deemed impressive, is also expected to launch sometime this year.
